CVE-2017-0004 Microsoft Windows Local Security Authority Subsystem Service Denial of Service (MS17-004)

The Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) is a process in windows which is helps in enforcing security policies on a system.

The updates fixes a fixes a denial of service attack by changing the way LSASS handles specially crafted authentication requests.

Affected Operating Systems include Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 (including Core), Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2 (including Core).

The update is rated important for all affected Operating Systems.

An attacker can cause a denial of service of attack because of flaws in the way authentication requests are handled by LSASS and cause a system reboot
